A Glimmer of Hope in Okaldhunga: More Than Just Bags

On May 20th and 21st, 2025, something special happened in Okaldhunga. Lily Leaves Social Enterprises gave out nice, stitched bags to kids in Class 1 to 5 at Saraswoti Adharbhoot Vidyalaya and Seti Devi Adharbhoot Dadagaun Schools. These bags are more than just school stuff they bring hope and show how much we care.

Before, many kids carried their books and notebooks in old jute sacks or weak plastic bags. The bags would tear, and books got ruined. For poor families, buying a new bag was hard and added to their worries. Now, with these strong bags, kids can keep their things safe. This small change helps families save money and lets kids focus on learning.

What’s even better is who made these bags. Women in our empowerment program, including some who are deaf or can’t speak, sewed them with love. Each bag tells a story of a woman working hard to stand on her own. When we help each other, everyone does better!

The day was extra special because of Taramaya Tamang from our Lily Leaves team. She used to be a student at these schools. With our help, she started as a trainee, kept studying, and grew into a great trainer. Coming back to give bags to new students filled her with pride and joy. It shows how one person’s journey can inspire others.
