Greening Nepal's urban areas through the Miyawaki method - lily leaves social enterprise

Swoyambhu Religious Forest Reforestation Project - I

This project aims at creating a sustainable and resilient city by developing dense forests and greenery into urban landscapes. On July 20, 2025, the sacred grounds of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Swoyambhu became home to a new, dense forest established using the revolutionary Miyawaki method. The forest covers a total area of 1184 sqm with 2583 saplings planted across 68 native species. By developing this urban forest within a historically and spiritually significant landscape, the project works to boost biodiversity, restore natural habitats, and bring back the area's ecological balance. The plantation also serves as a powerful step in the fight against climate change, transforming a revered cultural site into a thriving ecosystem that benefits both people and nature alike.
